Four Victims Wounded at Howe Park Sacramento - Unauthorized Gathering Turns Violent
On April 18 2026, an unauthorized gathering of multiple hundreds of attendees at Howe Park in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade neighborhood erupted in gunfire when 20 to 25 gunshots echoed through the area as Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies were actively breaking up the gathering.
How Events Unfolded
Just after 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office received calls concerning individuals who may have been carrying concealed weapons at the park. A second caller advised of a potential physical confrontation and people leaving the area quickly.
Air support was sent to the area and searched the park but failed to identify the reported fight.
Even so, multiple hundreds of people had assembled at the location for what officials called an unapproved assembly. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies formed a perimeter around the park, turned on their emergency lights, and used roughly 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse using public address systems.
As deputies were in the process of dispersing attendees, 20 to 25 gunshots rang out — sending hundreds of people running in all directions at once.
Victims of the Shooting
Four individuals — three men and one woman, all young adults in their 20s — were transported to area hospitals. website Two were classified with immediate injuries, one suffered moderate injuries, and one suffered injuries classified as minor. The Investigation Scene
The crime scene was located on the Cottage Way side side of the park close to the nearby Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue in Sacramento. The nearby Home Depot was briefly placed on lockdown. Additional shell casings were located on Cottage Way, with bullet impacts found in the wrought iron fence near the Home Depot store — suggesting a shooter firing south from Cottage Way toward the store. What We Know About Suspects
Over law enforcement radio traffic, it was confirmed that a related check here suspect vehicle — identified as a Kia — was stopped in Solano County with four individuals detained. Sacramento County Sheriff's Office units were traveling to collect those detained and return them to Sacramento County for questioning. Video evidence confirmed two gunmen were present.
